Oregon woman found dead in storage unit; suspect arrested in Berthoud

BERTHOUD, Colo. — A disturbing case stretching across several states has ended with an arrest in Colorado. Police in Oregon say human remains discovered in a storage unit last month were identified as 39-year-old Meihong “Kiki” He, and a suspect was taken into custody in Berthoud, Colorado.

According to The Dalles Police Department in Oregon, officers responded to a storage facility on July 29 after reports of suspicious activity. Investigators with the Oregon State Police Crime Lab opened a locked storage box inside the unit and found human remains. Those remains were later confirmed to be He’s. She was originally from China and living in the Mid-Columbia region of Oregon.

Police say the investigation quickly expanded across state lines. A multi-agency task force developed a person of interest, identified as 59-year-old Richard Michael “Mike” Robinson of The Dalles, Oregon. Robinson also spent time in neighboring Klickitat County, Washington, according to law enforcement..

On August 25, the U.S. Marshals Service arrested Robinson in Berthoud, Colorado, on a warrant for failing to register as a sex offender. He is currently being held in the Larimer County Jail while awaiting extradition to Oregon.

The case remains under active investigation, with detectives following up on leads in Oregon, Washington, Utah, Nevada, California, and Colorado.
