Castle Pines man tried to pay for drive-thru with drugs, deputies say

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, after the clerk declined, the man said he’d wait if they changed their mind and then walked inside the restaurant.

CASTLE PINES, Colo. — Deputies in Douglas County say a man turned a Castle Pines fast food drive-thru into a crime scene after allegedly trying to trade narcotics for a meal.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Swings B and Graves B deputies were called after a clerk reported that a customer offered drugs in exchange for food. The man reportedly showed foil containing a white powdery substance that looked like cocaine. When the clerk refused, investigators say the man told them he’d wait if they changed their mind and then walked into the restaurant.

Deputies located his vehicle soon after. On top of a cell phone inside the car, they say they saw a white powdery substance in plain view.

A search revealed additional baggies consistent with drug distribution, a scale, and several alcohol shooters. Investigators note the alcohol is also a violation of his active protection order.

The sheriff’s office says the man now faces several charges, including:

Officials added a reminder that all parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The sheriff’s office closed its update with a lighthearted warning: fast food combos come with fries—not felonies.
